Winmail Viewer - Letter Opener App Reviews

This sure beats having to constantly ask clients to resend their attachments because they come through as “winmail.dat” - you will have to pay if you want to be able to actually download the attachments that are stored in the winmail.dat file though (Winmail.dat Premium) - I also paid for the “File Extension Repair Premium” as that happens to me sometimes too (apparently). If you have any iTunes cards laying around that you haven’t cashed in yet - use them for this - that’s what I did! $20 approx in total to never have to ask a client to resend their goofy winmail.dat files ever again - that’s worth it to me.

If you’re looking for a simple app to open those annoying .dat files that come attached to emails, this is just what you need. Works great and at a fair price compared to the hassle of using some of those online-based tools that do who-knows-what to your data. Money well spent!

For anyone haveing problems with winmail.dat files this is a must for you. Buy a pro version, it doesnt cost much but can save you a lot of time hastle and nerves when you get .dat files that drive you crazy to open. Letter Opener opens everything in seconds and support you get from developer is great.

Allow only to view message, no attachments.

Great app - helpful to read archived emails. Would like to see a preview pane much like with Outlook.

If you actually want to open an attachement you’re unable to unless you upgrade to pro for $10!

Just like already reported, it won’t open anything unless you upgrade for $10.00 If you need to charge, SAY SO UPFRONT. I don’t deal with SNEAKS.

You cannot open anything without an upgrade. Its garbage!!!!

You need to buy an in app purchase to use the program. Its kind of a scam - free things that work better (e.g. integrated into macOS mail) - but have to hunt online.

The free version only opens mails. You can’t get access to the attachements. And $9.99 for that is too expensive. So it works well but is only iseful at avery basic level. Hence the 3 stars

The free version doesn’t permit access to attachments and it costs $10 to upgrade to a version that does allow access to attachments. Forget it. i’ll forward the mail to someone with a pc before I do that.

When one email that is critical to a year end report requires an in-App purchase of $10… ! Well, it is indeed a sad day to be an Apple product owner. Come on Apple and Microsoft. Get it together, try and love one another right now. BOO on you Apple!

My Mac already opens the email, but does not open the Winmail.dat attachment. When I click on the attachment, this app re-opens the email, showing the attachment as a PDF, rather than a .DAT file, along with the notice that if you want to open the PDF, you can buy the Premium version for $9.99. In other words, it’s useless.

I agree with the scam evaluations. can’t open an attachment without paying 10 dollars. Back to the app store I have to go. If you’re going to charge 10.00 just say so up front. I thought the Apple App store supposedly screened the apps for this kind of time wasting foolishness. Will not open attachemnets in Mail. Triggers you to buy Premium edition - $9.99. Waste of my time. Viewers for these files are free.

A very nice addition to all those emails containing win mail.dat. Works well, does the job intended - and it is the right price. The full version at $39,95 is a little steep, given the Lite version is free.

Does excatly what I need. Converts those unreadable winmail.dat attachments quickly and reliably. Well done.

You have to buy the proversion to actually open attachments. Rather lame look for a diffrent software which does it for free or cheaper then this one.

Works very well, and it’s extremely easy to use on my Mac, I don’t worry about received windmill.dat files that send from outlook any more.

When getting a windmill.dat file in the mail, I couldn’t figure out how to open it. I search it on Google and find some peoplerecommand this app.
